All townhomes at Marshview have a fire suppression system that is designed to activate when a fire is detected.
The interior sprinklers serving every room should not be painted over or otherwise damaged or covered in any way. They are inspected annually, subject to owner’s making access to the townhome available on the noticed day of inspection.
There are exterior controls for each of the 25 Marshview buildings, most of them covered by a green “pillow” for protection from the ocean environment. Others are recessed into the exterior wall behind a metal panel that is opened with a screwdriver. When a fire sprinkler activates, an exterior fire alarm sounds. The controls include a cutoff valve (green or blue), as noted in the photo below. Should there by an accidental activation of a sprinkler, the system can be shut off by turning the handle to be perpendicular to the pipe. (Photo shows the handle in the "off” position.

Marshview’s management company should be alerted to any issues with the interior or exterior components of the fire suppression systems. The exterior controls for each building are inspected quarterly. All system inspections are performed by a contracted company specializing in this work.
